JHNN (pronounced J-H-double-N), or John K Arum, is a producer/DJ from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Having been active in production and DJing since 2009 in his bedroom while bringing his DJing skills to clubs three years later, he’s developed a sound that can be described as “mellow dark disco”

This all came to be after finishing high school, coinciding with the rise of dance music on pop radio stations and the increasing popularity of DJing. With that, JHNN decided to enter remix contests and record demos. He uploaded his first public remix 'Burns - Nu-disko (JHNN rewerk)' to Soundcloud, demonstrating not only his interest in disco, but more notably his interest in the bass element of disco while keeping the vibe of the genre intact. After competing in several remix contests, JHNN became comfortable enough to self-release his first EP Radio, where he combines the low-end focus of dubstep with disco and house. This eventually led to him recording his first LP HYPOCRT 0: .Th3m, featuring a wide range of influences such as Last Gang Records artists Metric, Death from Above 1979 and MSTRKRFT as well as an afrobeat influence coming from UK funky. The album was self-released in early 2014 through Bandcamp, and helped JHNN shape his dark disco sound.

As deep house started rising from the underground in 2012, JHNN noted the similarities between his music and the sound that had a house-oriented approach to bass music, marking a new deep house inspired sound and direction for his career.

JHNN has gone on to open for acts like Kid Koala, KANT, Simon Doty and Danny Howells. He continues to self-release his material and release through mainly Calgary-based labels such as Substation Recordings for free. His Recent Release demontrates his newly acquired songwriting skills and vocal ability.

Kill Midi

Matt is a producer, live performer, sound design enthusiast and gearhead.  Matt first began making electronic music as a teenager at the turn of the millennium, dipping his toes into the once prolific tracker\demoscene, influenced heavily by 80s new wave, 90s acid, house music, industrial and cyberpunk.  Not content to camp in any one genre this evolved through the early 2000's to include synthpop, IDM, and Breakcore.  Currently Matt has shifted focus from in the box production to playing keys, performing live, and producing uniquely hardware driven Synthwave, Future Funk, and Techno under the alias KillMidi.

Matt believes strongly that the future of electronic music lies in live performances with hardware synthesizers, drum machines and sequencers and has dedicated significant effort to researching, cultivating and promoting this scene.

Kismet DJ

Kismet was born in the basements, offices, house parties and mountain festivals of Calgary and the Rocky Mountains. In those thriving beds of cutting edge artistic expression, the old school of DJing and turntablism was the key, the foundation upon which the music was built. Early influences from hardcore and gabber shows blended together with deep wax cuts of old school hip hop MCs crushing rhymes on relentless drum’n’bass beats.

As that sound blossomed for Kismet, a.k.a. Stirling Donnelly, Calgary’s drum’n’bass and jungle scene embraced him. In 2011, he broke onto the scene with 403DNB, a fledgling crew of junglists destined to push that skittering, signature sound as far into the Western Canadian underground dance scene as it could.

With 403DNB, Kismet shared stages with some of the sound’s finest - Spectrasoul, A-sides, Icicle and Dub Phizix helped shape his sound. Motion Notion, Fozzy Fest and Calgary Electronic Music Festival took that sound further into the scene, until in 2015 Kismet took the coveted title spot at the Dirty Tones Entertainment DJ Competition.

As 2016 rolls in, the jazz-flecked liquid tones find balance with sparse and minimal soundscapes, and the techy future bass sounds meet the roots and traditions of drum’n’bass. Between his solo sets and his tag team work as one half of Carbon Copy, Kismet will find every opportunity to keep dance floors thriving from Calgary to wherever his road may take him.
