Rane

Although you will seldom find it published, a manufacturer's philosophy is indeed built into every product. We believe that true quality is in the details. It's seen in the painstakingly chosen precision components, in the neat and solid construction, in the comprehensive manuals, and most importantly in the care and concern of the dedicated people at Rane that make it all happen. Manufacturers will always make claims, but the real truth is proven with time, in the hands of countless users. In the end, you are the best judge. Whatever your requirements, make sure you choose a product for its quality and reputation--it's worth it. And if it's a piece of Rane gear, we're confident you'll derive as much personal satisfaction in using it as we have from creating it.

Universal Audio

Founded in 1958 by Bill Putnam Sr., Universal Audio has been synonymous with innovative recording products since its inception. A favorite engineer of Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles and more, the late Bill Putnam Sr. was a passionate innovator who is widely regarded as the father of modern recording — with many of his legendary studio and equipment designs still in use today.

Specifically, Putnam was the inventor of the modern recording console, the multi-band audio equalizer, and the vocal booth, and he was the first engineer to use artificial reverberation in commercial recording. Alongside his friend Les Paul, Putnam was also involved in the early development of stereophonic recording.

Putnam, a natural entrepreneur, started three audio product companies during his long career: Universal Audio, Studio Electronics, and UREI. All three companies built equipment that remains widely used decades after their introduction, including the ubiquitous LA-2A and 1176 compressors, and the 610 tube recording console. The 610 console in particular stands as one of the most beloved designs in audio history, used to record everyone from Sinatra to the Beach Boys to Van Halen’s eponymous debut.

Re-founded in 1999

Universal Audio was re-founded in 1999 by Bill's sons, James Putnam and Bill Putnam Jr., with two main goals: to faithfully reproduce classic analog recording equipment in the tradition of their father; and to design new digital recording tools in with the sound and spirit of vintage analog technology. To that end, Universal Audio employs the world's brightest DSP engineers and digital modeling authorities to develop our award-winning UAD Powered Plug-Ins platform. Featuring the most authentic analog emulation plug-ins in the industry, our DSP gurus work with the original hardware manufacturers — using their exact schematics, golden units, and experienced ears — to give UAD plug-ins warmth and harmonics in all the right places, just like analog.

Nothing better represents the merging of our analog heritage and groundbreaking digital designs than the award-winning Apollo audio interface. Introduced in 2012, Apollo has become the new worldwide standard for professional music production, and has been used to record breakthrough albums by artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Coldplay, Dr. Dre, Brad Paisley, and many more.

With 165 employees and offices in Los Angeles, Colorado, and Amsterdam, Universal Audio is headquartered near Silicon Valley in Scotts Valley, California — where our classic analog gear is still hand-built, one unit at a time.

Software or hardware, every Universal Audio product is backed by a decades long legacy of innovation, superlative quality, and technical passion.

Fozzy Fest

Fozzy Fest Alberta

FozzyFest is a three-day music and arts festival held annually in September, featuring international & local DJ’s, musicians, artists, performers and educational workshops in a spectacular setting, nestled on the shores of Lake Koocanusa, at Big Springs Campground, near Fernie, BC. While forest fires impacted the area surrounding Big Springs Campground in 2017, luckily the final impact to the campground itself was little more than some fallen ash. We’re ready to return to the beach!

FozzyFest has four artistically designed stage environments to captivate your senses and offer you plenty to see and do throughout the weekend. It will be hard to see it all! Did we mention the beautiful soft sandy beach and lake to swim in? You might need to do a double-take to realize you’re not in Mexico or Cuba.

The Forest stage and the Beach stage feature international and local headline acts. The Crystal Cave stage features local talent and surprise bonus performances by select headliners. The Apex stage hosts workshops and other community events. Scattered throughout the grounds you will find art installations and seating areas that captivate the senses.

Long and Mcquade

https://www.long-mcquade.com

Jack Long was a professional trumpet player who, in 1956, thought that maybe he could sell instruments to some of his friends in the musical community.  He set up a small store on Carlton Street in Toronto on the second floor of an old house and became a dealer for King Band Instruments.  The floor was divided up into music studios so Jack was also able to teach trumpet lessons on the side.  About 6 months later, Jack rented out a room to a local drummer named Jack McQuade which he used for drum lessons.

In 1957, the Jacks decided to open up a small retail store on Yonge Street and named it Long & McQuade Musical Instruments.  Many existing customer service policies sprang from these early days.  The rental program began when the partners decided to start charging their friends for all the instruments they were “borrowing”.  The financing program began when a customer asked if he could purchase a drum set but not pay for it all at once.  Jack & Jack continued as partners until 1965 when Jack McQuade decided to pursue drumming full time and sold his portion of the company to Jack Long.

Long & McQuade began expanding in 1968 and hasn’t stopped since.  Currently there are over 70 Long & McQuade stores across Canada as well as an online store that opened in 2008.  The company employs over 1,300 musicians and contracts around 1,000 music teachers across Canada.  To this day, the entire company is still 100% owned by the Long family.
