everything your pass has to offer
As AEMCON inches closer and closer and all the pieces begin to fall into place, we’ve started taking stock of everything we have lined up in November.
· 4 days (and nights) of programming
· Over 100 delegates with industry expertise
· 6 different venues
· 34 workshops, panels and presentations
· Hundreds of like-minded individuals
With this in mind, let’s dissect what exactly an AEMCON wristband gets you.
· Access to all conference activities at Studio Bell, Home of the National Music Centre
Daytime events and workshops are AEMCON’s main course. Featuring concentrated doses of knowledge across a huge range of topics, we’re excited to be hosting experts of all stripes and giving them a platform to share what they’ve learned over the years. Whether you’re looking to learn about marketing and representation from people like Grant Paley and Paul Brooks, or would rather check into a drum and bass clinic led by Nomine, there’s something for everyone.
· Free-reign exploration of the National Music Centre
As you bounce from workshop to workshop throughout the day, you might find yourself getting lost – intentionally or otherwise – in the hallways filled with the National Music Centre’s collection of curios. Featuring all sorts of paraphernalia passed on by musical icons, as well as storied instruments and interactive exhibits, don’t forget to factor in some time to explore Studio Bell.
· Complementary access to all nighttime performances
What better way to cap off days full of education, inspiration and connection than with cutting-edge nighttime programming? We’ve collaborated with Calgary’s best venues and promoters to bring you evenings chock-full of international talent, buttressed by local selectors of all types. We'll be announcing our full list of night time entertainment over the coming weeks.
*Please note that complementary entry to events is subject to venue capacity. As a general rule, 25% of capacity is held for AEMCON guests. As always, plan to arrive early to guarantee you'll get in.
· One-on-one meetings with FACTOR Canada
Supported by private Canadian radio broadcasters and the Government of Canada, the Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings – or FACTOR for short – has been helping musicians chase their dreams, and translate them into reality, for over thirty years. They do this through distribution of funding, and providing artist development throughout the country. AEMCON attendees are able to book 20 minute sessions with FACTOR delegates to explore how the Foundation can assist them.
· Access to our industry mixer
Hosted by local electronic music institution Beat Drop, AEMCON’s mixer offers an opportunity for attendees to meet conference delegates, exchange ideas, and make meaningful connections. Don’t miss this opportunity to get to know your idols and workshop ideas with like-minded people.
· A gift bag loaded with offerings from our Marketplace sponsors
Featuring a comprehensive complement of world-class manufacturers and retailers – such as Ableton, Roland, Pioneer DJ and Long & McQuade – AEMCON’s free-to-access Marketplace is your one-stop-shop for cutting edge technology, merchandise and mementos. Attendees will receive a gift bag with samplings from Marketplace sponsors.
· A complementary Alberta Music membership
Since 1980, Alberta Music has been pushing the Western Canadian music industry forward thanks to a wealth of initiatives supported by professionals across the country. The storied institution offers members opportunities for professional development, career consultations, exclusive grants, and special offers – among many other perks. AEMCON attendees get a complementary membership, valued at $45.
This extensive list of perks is just the starting point for your AEMCON experience. For under $200, Calgary’s burgeoning music scene becomes your playground, a springboard for your career to reach new heights.
